…..was a weekend and holiday venue from the 1930s to the 1950s, later becoming the permanent residence of Mr and Mrs Sidney Jackson  during the 1960s.

The roof of Mr Burke's bungalow, Hawthorn, (still standing), is visible through the birch tree at the bottom of the garden of Coombe Cottage.    Prominent are  Wendover's  prized veranda and regularly cut lawn.  On the right-hand side of the house was built the later engine and generator shed.
